Dennis “Short” Drake –

Of Jackson, passed away at the age of 78 under the compassionate care of the staff at the Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home and family by his side, on Monday, October 29, 2018. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Fogg) Drake. He is survived by his children, Kim (Kevin) Saumier, Robert (Barbara Gollach) Felde, Julie (Tom) Klavon, Sandra (Pete) Ambs, Felicia (John) Moog, and Percy J. (Jackie) Littlejohn, III; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and special great grandson, Brayden; brother, Bud (Frances) Drake; and sister, Wardena Shortz; brother-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Pulver; sisters-in-law, Sharon Sanchez and Jane Roe; mother-in-law, Evelyn Fogg; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, Cindy Drake (John) Swartwood, Karen Drake Sajdak, Gene (Susan) Drake, Leslie (Sue) Drake, Brian (Kathy) Drake, Dennis (Nancy) Drake, Susan (Bruce) Greene, and Steven (Anna) Shortz; and many loving family members and friends. “Short” was born to Carl and Georgia (Harrell) Drake in Jackson on June 14, 1940. He attended Vandercook Lake Schools and then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. After his Honorable discharge he returned to Jackson and was employed at Clark Equipment, then at various shops in the area. “Short” enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was always busy tinkering or with his yardwork. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and friends were just as important as family to him. He will be greatly missed. A service honoring him will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Roseland Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hematology and Oncology.
