

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 96. Stanley was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on October 3, 1929, to parents Horace John (Jimmy) DeFoe and Sena Josephine Jacobson. He married his wife of 20 years Gail Arlene Johnson on November 14, 1950. He then married his wife of 42 years Bonnie Kay Clemens Carter on February 14, 1972. After high school, Stanley joined the Army as part of the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia where he trained as a paratrooper. Leaving the army, he moved his family to California where he worked in aeronautics and space, retiring from both Boeing and Northrupt. Stanley was a lifetime member of the Elks and a 40+ year member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Torrance, California. He was a member of a camping club, a fishing club, and was an avid golfer. He and his wife Bonnie traveled extensively, going to Europe, Asia, South America, the Caribbean, and Pacific Island nations. Stanley loved life, loved his family, loved meeting new people, and loved telling stories - and he had lots of stories to tell. Stanley is survived by his two daughters Linda and Clair, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Horace and Sena DeFoe, his two wives Gail DeFoe and Bonnie Defoe, siblings Melba and Merle, son James, stepson James, and stepdaughter Kelly. Per his wishes cremation has been chosen with no services.
