beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted educator, passed away peacefully at the age of 88. Born in 1937 in Toledo, Ohio, to Warner and Ruth Stowell, Susan (known affectionately as "Sue") moved to Birmingham, Michigan, after her sophomore year at Wittenberg University. She went on to complete both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education at Michigan State University.
Sue dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching in the Jackson Public School District. She poured her heart into nurturing young minds with patience, kindness, and a steadfast belief in their potential. Her legacy as an educator lives on in the many lives she touched and helped shape. Family was at the center of everything Sue did. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her warmth and generosity made everyone feel seen and valued, and her presence was a constant reminder of unconditional love. Evans Lake held a special place in Sue’s heart. It was there, among the familiar shores and the laughter of family and cherished friends, that she found joy and peace. A woman of deep faith, Sue was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson and generously volunteered her time with Love INC, the Interfaith Shelter, and the Higby Street Church of Christ. Sue is preceded in death by her brother, Leigh Stowell, and her stepdaughter, Kelli Doty (Mike). She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Patton; her children, Jennifer Roswell (Jon), Scott Roswell (Sheri), Beth Miller (Kirk), and stepdaughter, Kitrina Sims. She is also survived by her [14] grandchildren and [32] great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Susan Dinsmore Patton will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her. The family is planning a private service for Sue. If you would like to make a donation to her memory, please consider Cascades Human Society or Love Inc. of Jackson County per her wishes.
