Thenila Hudson, 95, of Greenville, South Carolina passed away on September 19, 2018. Thenila, originally from Jackson, Michigan moved to South Carolina to be near her daughter after her husband of 52½ years passed away. Thenila was born March 26, 1923 in Jackson, the daughter of James and Mary Broyhill. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lurany (Joe) Kosteno and Anna Norene (William) Rudloff. She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Terry) Brunner; grandchildren, Melissa (John) Jerina and Brian (Carolyn) Robertson; great grandchildren, Jillian, Jonathan, Alec, Noah Grace, Marissa, and Emory.
Thenila retired from Mechanical Products in Michigan as an inspector of government parts used in planes and helicopters. After retirement she was the proprietor of the “Splash Shop” selling arts and crafts on consignment. In addition, she made quilted adult sleeping bags for the homeless and baby crib quilts for Birthline charity. Her volunteer work continued in South Carolina as a member of the Ray Hopkins Senior Center sewing and stuffing handmade cloth dogs, cats, teddy bears and dolls, sewing surgical hats and pillows and crocheting and quilting baby crib blankets for the children in the Greenville Hospital System. She enjoyed crocheting lap robes for the elderly living in nursing homes and 1000+ hats for our troops in Afghanistan.
A funeral service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest next to her husband on Tuesday, September, 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the time of service.
