When we were in Ky  Sister. Bonnie an I  was. tagging alone Willard and DockJunior. Willard was trying to teach us how to ride their bike. I wreaked tore my leg up. There was A big hill behind aunt Sallies house. We liked to walk up there.  We were pretty high one day I fell and rolled all the way to the bottom. Willard came slipping and sliding down to get to me. To see if I was hurt. Lot of. Scratches. But ok.   We always enjoyed doing things. with. them. So sorry he gone. He will be missed.

My Uncle Willard has been a constant in my life from day one. Not only was he my Uncle by blood (my Dad's brother) but he was also our neighbor,  his children were my best friends and he filled a void in my heart when my dad passed away that no-one else could.  He was the one that taught me at 5 years old that if I ate the watermelon seeds they would grow in my tummy :) and how to throw  a frisbee (he was the best at it). He help us a ton with our Kentucky cabin and always encouraged me and supported me and loved me! I will miss him every day for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, Uncle Willard, rest in peace!

I remember making homemade wine and taking it to Chillicothe  where we was hunting and he had smoked deer meat that he prepared. That was just one of many great hunting  trips. 

He was the best grandpa in the hole world he was the best deer hunter I ever know .. 

Willard was my best friend growing up on Trace Fork.  Even though he was six years older, he always took time to make sure that little neighbor girl had what she wanted. He helped me learn how to ride my bike. He would hold it up and tell me, now pedal hard, all the time running along side so I wouldn't fall. We both loved to hunt and fish so during the summer did a lot of that. Willard would cut a long willow limb with a fork from another limb on the end. That was our fish stringer.  He would wade the creek when the water was low in the summer and run his hands back under the bank and catch the fish hiding there. He would throw them up on the bank to me and I put them on the stringer. He would laugh and tell about the time he caught a water snake and tossed it to me, and how fast I ran away, yelling at him all the way. As I got older and learned to cook more I made many pies for him and Dock Jr.  In later years our friendship was limited to seeing each other a few times a year, mostly  when he would visit his cabin in Grassy Branch which he loved.  The best memories ever, I will always love and miss him. My love and prayers to Connie and the family. 

My family moved from Knox, Indiana to Magoffin, Ky. beginning my Freshman year in high school back in 1962. My first trip on the school bus was a nightmare. Some big ole boy from the 
"Head of the River " slapped me in the back of the head, I was terrified and started crying. Just when I thought my life was over, Willard appeared from the back of the bus, grabbed the bully by the shirt, and quickly convinced him to leave me alone. 
  That was over 50 years ago and until this day when I thing of him I think of a hero who came to my aid. May our precious Savior hasten Willards Heavenly flight and usher him into the 
Joys of the Lord !
