Of Jackson MI, passed away with family by her side on February 11, 2017 at the age of 86. Wodena was born on December 29, 1930 in Jackson, MI to parents Walter and Eva Ward. Wodena retired after 30 years of service at Polly’s. She was an active member of Northeast Missionary Church. In 1996, she was named as one of the “10 people who care” award winners by the Jackson Citizen Patriot. She was also a recent resident of the Jackson Friendly Home. Wodena is survived by her children, Virginia (Peter) Kent, Christopher (Ellen) Gillespie, and Walter “Guy” Gillespie; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Northeast Missionary Church (903 Virginia St., Jackson, MI) with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Missionary Church or the charity of your choice.
