Ann was and remains the beloved wife of her husband of 52 years, Harold. She is the wonderful mother of son, Erik and daughter, Sibylle and son-in-law, Robert Lewis; grandmother of Noah (18), Brady (15), and Anna (12) Lewis; sister to Martha Jelsma (Denny), Betsy Finch, and Grace Alarcon; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful friends to so many in her work and social life. Ann always had a true servant's heart for serving others, with nothing but kind words to say about everyone she knew and was the personification of "love thy neighbor."
Ann was born to Southern Baptist missionaries, Cecil and Mary McConnell on March 31, 1947 in Santiago, Chile. She married Harold in March of 1966. She held many positions in the nursing profession including creating and overseeing the first Cardiac Rehab Program in our community at Jacksonville Medical Center, Nurse Manager of the Emergency Department at St. Vincent's Medical Center, and culminating in her leadership, in 1990, as Assistant Administrator for Patient Services at Baptist Medical Center-Beaches. Serving six administrators, she left in 2012 hoping to enjoy a happy retirement traveling with her family. This was sadly not to be due to the rapid onset of Alzheimer's-like dementia that cut short her wonderful life. She will be tearfully missed by her family and fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know her.
Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 with visitation 1-hour before services at the Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
