Arlene Gladys Christ

Arlene was born on September 17, 1920 in Cressona, PA to Annie and Arthur Butler. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert S. Christ, on May 23, 1942 and their travels began as Robert became an Air Force pilot upon his graduation from Penn State.

After settling in Montoursville, PA, Arlene raised her family, enjoyed summer vacations to the New Jersey seashore, helped in the family business, and was an active member in church and community organizations.

Upon her husband’s death, Arlene moved to Neptune Beach, FL in 1982. She became an avid Gator fan, loved the beach, and was an active volunteer and member of Christ United Methodist Church. Above all, she cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she was loved dearly by them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her four children, Mary Ann Sawyer (Steve) of Jacksonville, FL, Robert F. Christ (Susan) of Montoursville, PA, Deborah K. Peterson (Tim) of Neptune Beach, FL, and Edward P. Christ (Tommie) of Jacksonville Beach, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her brother, Claude Butler of State College, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 2pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 Penman Rd. Neptune Beach, FL. Interment will be at Montoursville, PA cemetery on a beautiful hilltop.
