Beverly was born in the small Indiana town of Union City, where she met Ray in their early teens.
Beverly graduated from Indiana State University with degrees in grade school education and Special Ed. Ray and Beverly were married on May 10, 1969
After relocating to the Jacksonville area in the early 70’s due to Ray’s commitment to the U.S Navy, Bev began her lifelong commitment to elementary education.
She taught at Rufus Payne, Fort Caroline, and Alimacani public schools in Jacksonville. She was chosen as the Duval County Teacher of the Year in 1996.
She also was dedicated to civic affairs such as Arlington Little League and the Ft. Caroline Club, serving as president for both organizations.
After she retired from the Duval School System, she started her own business (Teaching, Learning, and Consultation). She was also a District Literary Coach for Duval County.
After leaving the education business she volunteered her time to the Jacksonville Fair for many years.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Ray, her two sons, Michael & Rob, her five grandchildren, Brett, Brian, Kiley, Tyler & Taylor, her two great-grandchildren, Wesley & Chase, her six siblings, Pat, Peg, Tom, Linda, Jack & Janet, and countless nieces & nephews.

Memorial services honoring Beverly will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 523 San Pablo Ave, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250 on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 11:00am, with a reception to immediately follow.
