Whitmer Class of 1965 has lost one of our finest in Danny. An outstanding student as a youth and an outstanding citizen throughout his adult life, he shall be sorely missed.

Ginny, Dean, Amy, Sue, Peggy, and Aunt Alice.

If you think about it, the enormous loss, hurt, and grief we feel means that life was full, important, valued, and meaningful. If we did not care, if we were not sad, it means would mean life was meaningless.

With my memories, talking to my siblings, and reading all the comments and background on Danny, you know he lead very meaningful life!

MY MEMORIES, - As a young kid Danny my older cousins was someone I looked up too. I have wonderful memories of trying to hang out with (really bug) he and Bob Fennell as they painted our house. They hung me in a tree upside down to get ride of me. Or riding on his Cushman mini bike, going with Aunt Alice to watch him pole vault at Whitmer. Also, being so excited to see him home safely when he returned in his uniform from Navy while Vietnam War was in full swing. Or how beautiful a bride Ginny was as they were married. Later, while the kids were young, Danny invited me to go bike riding several times which was a huge treat.

As we grew older, seeing Danny and Ginny at any family function was always a highlight for me.

I remember my dad (Ray Gillespie) who was a strict solider/marine loved, respected and cared for Danny like a son Much because of his time in the Navy. He admired him so. I remember clearing sitting as a youngster listening to the two trade war stories.

Better than that, if you look at his work, his contribution, you can tell Danny was about serving and doing the right thing. You cannot ask for more than that from any. It is at the highest level of humanity.

So as we say good bye to Danny, please know my family and I are thinking of you and remembering Danny with great fondness, love and deep appreciation for the importance, meaning, and fulfillment that Danny has added to our lives.
