David Christopher Walker

David was born on October 9, 1964, in Jackson, Mississippi, to William and Clara Mae Walker. He grew up in a large and loving family as the youngest son among thirteen siblings.

David graduated from Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1982 before enlisting in the United States Navy. He retired from military service after 20 years, having served as a medical corpsman and flight deck aviation crew member.

During his time in the Navy, David continued his education, earning an Associate in Arts degree from Florida State College at Jacksonville. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida in 1998.

David then began his career as a social worker, ultimately becoming a manager with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. Through his work, he continued doing what came so naturally to him: serving others and caring for people in his community.

Above all else, David loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of his heart. His faith was at the center of his life, and he walked in love with everyone he encountered. He enjoyed serving in his church and never missed an opportunity to share the Gospel or the love of Christ with those around him.

David loved his family deeply. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara Mae Walker; his sisters, Elease, Anna, and Barbara; and his brothers, Robert, John Timothy, and James Woodrow.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Joy; his four children, Candace (Gerald), Ashley, Shannon, and Christopher; his beloved granddaughter, Catalaya; and his siblings, Cheryl (Bruce), Emma (Tim), William Earl, Cleveland (Barbara), Lorraine, and William (Rita); along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and faith.

David's life was a reflection of what mattered most to him: loving God and loving people. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave, the faith he shared, and the impact he made on his family and community will continue to live on.
