Dolores June Stafford Sapp, born April 21,1935 in Jacksonville, FL. She resided for the past 11 years in Neptune Beach, FL. She departed this earth peacefully to Heaven on August 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Jackson Stafford and Leon Stafford, husband James Aubrey Sapp, siblings Clifford Stafford and Linda Phillips, five of her children Jimmy, Phillip, Gary, Vivian, and Cindy, and a grandson Benji.
Dolores attended Andrew Jackson High School and retired from the City of Jacksonville HUD, where she made and maintained many forever friends.
She is survived by her brother Bill (Gail) Stafford, daughters Jeanette (Jim) Devine and Rhonda Lofton, and son-in-law Ben Nabers. Also survived by eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a great great grandson, many cousins, nieces, nephews, including one very special niece Jill Lane, and many, many close friends and loved ones.
Our mother was the matriarch of our family and absolute life of everyone. She wanted to help everyone that she could, donating to churches and people she knew or heard of who were in need in our community.
She was an avid reader, gardener and loved traveling, sewing, going to yard sales and taking classes like ceramics and cake decorating. She was a lifelong learner, interested in history and passionate about family and genealogy.
She loved singing old songs to her kids, going to the kids’ games, and she absolutely adored her close friends and family get togethers, especially our annual Family Christmas party.
She was a founding member of the Durkeeville Historical Society, where she also volunteered until she was no longer able.
The family would like to thank all her family, friends, and loved ones who were able to come to visit or call her and just all those who were a part of her life’s journey.
A Memorial Service for Dolores will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens in Jacksonville Beach. The family will receive friends from 10am to 12pm prior to the service at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the chapel.
