Elisa Blue Lowry

Our wonderful wife, mom, sister and grandmother surrendered to her fight with cancer on October 13, 2017.

Elisa is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Virginia Allen, father, Augustus Massillon Allen and sister, Virginia Lynn Allen.

Elisa is survived by her husband, Jeff; four children, Robin I Bird, James T., Matthew A (wife Rebekah) and Daniel R. (wife Yemila); four grandchildren, Mackenzie Blue Lowry, Zane Macmillian Bird, Blakely Lynn Lowry, Matthew Allen Lowry Jr. and expectant grandchild to Daniel and Yemila (due in May 2018); sister, Lydia Higginbotham; brother, Andrew L. Allen.

Elisa was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee on February 18, 1955. She graduated from Titusville High School in 1973. She married Jeff on November 30, 1974 in Titusville, Florida. After relocating to north central Florida within a year of the wedding, she and Jeff moved to Jacksonville Beach, Florida where she began her nearly 30 year career at Venus Swimwear. She loved cats and in addition to the many cats she adopted over the years, she volunteered as a foster parent with the Jacksonville Humane Society and especially enjoyed caring for kittens requiring bottle feeding. She was a true cat whisperer.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Community Hospice of NE Florida and the Jacksonville Humane Society.

Elisa’s family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Nowicki and his staff and Community Hospice of NE Florida for their loving care.

Cremation arrangements are being handled by Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, with a celebration of Elisa’s life scheduled for a date to be published at a later time.
