Elizabeth Ann Lorch

Elizabeth Ann (Cissy) Lorch was born in New Albany, Indiana on January 12, 1932 and passed away one day shy of her 94th birthday on January 11, 2026 in Green Cove Springs. She is survived by her nephews Frank E. Lorch IV and Eric W. Lorch, and nieces Emily (Lorch) McEvilly and Gwendolen Lorch. She is predeceased by her parents Frank E. and Lucille (Bir) Lorch Jr., her sister June (Lorch) Wright, and beloved little brother Frank E. Lorch III.

Cissy (also spelled “Sissy” earlier in her life) had a long and inspiring life as an athlete, a Navy nurse, a golfer, and a friend. She was a multi-year-champion swimmer and basketball player at New Albany High School. After graduating from Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing in Louisville, Kentucky in 1953, she joined the Navy Nurse Corps and travelled the world. Over the ensuing 20 years, she rose to the rank of Commander, distinguishing herself through her dedication, tact, managerial skills, exceptional ability in interpersonal relationships, and genuine interest in the welfare of her patients and staff. She retired in 1974 in the Jacksonville area so that she could concentrate on her true passions - golf and spending time with friends. She was fiercely loyal and took great pride in having cared for her mother for 24 years. Also, it was loyalty to her beloved canine companion Cameo that inspired her to become a major donor in Cameo’s memory to K9s For Warriors. She treasured living at Magnolia Point (on the golf course, of course) almost as much as the large circle of friends she developed there. A long time member of the Jacksonville Women’s Golf Association, Cissy was also one of the founding members of Magnolia Point Country Club where her golf swing was legendary - almost as much as she will be always remembered to her friends and family.

Cissy’s inurnment will take place at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to K9s For Warriors, 114 Camp K9 Road, Ponte Vedra, Florida 32081 K9sForWarriors.org
