Enrique García, “Kiko” to his many friends, came to the world in 1931 in Guantanamo, Cuba, one of two children, along with his sister Carmen, to Enrique (senior) and María García. His was a lively and happy childhood and youth, spent in many of the best schools in eastern Cuba; a natural exuberance and easy way with conversation made him lifelong friends. Kiko entered business early, learning at his father’s side and finding in the world of buying, selling, and making deals and profits his true calling. The single most important event of his life was in finally asking Margarita Raurell, the very pretty and no-nonsense girl from the neighborhood, on a date. Life threw some of the toughest it had at them: the Cuban Revolution and its confiscations, arrests, shattered lives, and ultimately exile and starting from near zero in a new country—first Spain, then the United States. They always had each other, though, faith in God, and before long three healthy, loving children in Jose, Maria, and Thomas. Always a hard worker, the Lord’s blessings flowered and Enrique and Margarita achieved their American dream, as he and a partner built a thriving furniture business. Enrique took time to travel with his Beloved far and wide, raised his children to professions, and had the immense joy of welcoming nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to the world. God called him home in his 88th year and in the 57th year of a marriage that has served as an example of holy love, patience, and fortitude. Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm on August 4,2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church Jacksonville Beach FL,32250
