Erwin Louis Phillips, 72, of Jacksonville, FL passed away August 4, 2018. He was born in Rochester, NY on December 16, 1945 and served in the US Army. He was married to JoAnn Phillips for 37 years before her passing in 2014. Erwin worked as a mechanic for the Metal Container Corporation before retiring in 2008. He was a member of the United Steelworkers local 8461 and had a passion for gambling and spending many hours in the casino. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Pendleton (Christopher), step-sons, Fred Spoon (Diane); Danny Klimczak, step-daughters, Diana Klimczak,and Debbie Klimczak (pre-deceased).
Siblings, Christine Fraser, Mary Hirsch, Earl Phillips, Jr., and Arthur Phillips; grandchildren, Scott Spoon, Brad Spoon, Stacy Bush and fur grandbaby, Belle Pendleton ; great-grandchildren, Aleah and Levi; special “adopted” daughter, Spring ; “adopted” grandson, Jaden and “adopted” granddaughter, CJ. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am, Thursday, Aug 9th in the Hobson Auditorium, First Baptist Church, 119 W Beaver St. , Jax, FL. Interment will follow, with Army honors, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be given to Community Hospice and Palliative Care.
