

Florentine M. Axibal, 86, of Jacksonville Beach, FL, passed away peacefully January 2, 2023 surrounded by his immediate family. . He was born in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines on March 14, 1936. Tony graduated from Tayug High School and received a Master’s in Allied Health from the University of North Florida. He married Felisa Axibal on Nov. 6, 1966. Tony retired from both the U.S. Navy and the City of Jacksonville. He loved food and cooking and took great pride in his dishes. In his younger days Tony loved to go bowling and playing horseshoes. He also loved his vegetable garden and tended it every day during the growing season. He could often be found tinkering with things around the house and insisted he try to fix something first before we called a repair man. He was always there for family and friends in their time of need. He was a soft-spoken gentle man but would become very animated when expressing his opinions on topics he was passionate about.
He is survived by his wife Felisa; daughters, Elsie Carrigan and Genevieve Axibal; and grandchildren, Evan, Hannah and Sarah Carrigan.
A visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at
Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM
St. Paul's Catholic Church, 523 Pablo Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250.
The committal service will occur at 2:30 PM
Jacksonville National Cemetery Lane # 2, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
