Frederick Austin Adams, 89, passed away on March 12, 2013. He married Mary Lynn Longino, the love of his life, on October 29, 1945. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Fred has lived in Atlantic Beach, FL for over 30 years. Fred and Lynn had three children, Connie Adams Shea (John), Fred Adams and Marc Adams. Fred is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brian, Christie, Anna, Noah, Dr. Zach, Dr. Sam and Annie Rose; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Catherine, Connie and William.
Fred graduated as Valedictorian of his high school class. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Fred attended Rice University and the University of Alabama and obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering. Fred was a professor of Advanced Mathematics in Schenectady, New York. During his career, Fred worked as an Electrical Engineer in Research and Development, a mill manager, a Vice President of Production, an environmental consultant and a real estate broker. He worked for General Electric Company, National Container Corporation, Owens-Illinois, Papeteries Etienne in Arles, France, and the Fred Adams Real Estate Company.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Community Presbyterian Church, 150 Sherry Drive, Atlantic Beach, FL with the Rev. Dr. Gabe Goodman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fred’s memory may be made in his name to Community Hospice, 4114 Sunbeam Rd. Bldg 400, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
