George Wayne Dodson

December 10, 1955January 7, 2021

George Wayne Dodson (65) suddenly passed away on January 07, 2021 after an extended illness. He was one of six children born to Eldridge Eugene and Muriel (McGowen) Dodson. He is survived by Amy Pickett Dodson, his children, John and Allison (Wes) Herrington and grandchildren, Whitney and Aubree Herrington, his siblings Edward and Patricia. He was preceded in death by both his parents, brothers Eugene “Gene,” Winston and James “Jimmy" Dodson. George had a passion for music, karate, muscle cars and motorcycles. He was a self-taught musician, starting at a young age. Over the years, he played keyboard for Skytrain and other local bands. He earned his Shodan blackbelt in Shotokan and Aikido from Porter's United House of Karate. He was an ASE certified Master mechanic. He was co-owner with Dean “Deano" Gill of East Coast Powder Coating for over a decade. He truly was a jack of all trades.

There will be a Celebration of Life and Bike Run held on Saturday February 6th, 2021, at the Moose Lodge 455 ( 3834 Southside Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216) from 11AM - "till they kick us out".

In lieu of flowers, we suggest a donation in his memory to be made to K9s For Warriors.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME Jacksonville Beach FL.

I thought of George recently. I hadn't seen him in years but when I thought of him recently it put a smile on my face and warmed my heart. I will remember him where he was happiest, pounding out the tunes with Skytrain, always with a smile on his face. Until we meet again my friend.

In the early 60's we moved to Anniston Rd. This was the country with very few homes. The Dodsons became friends and over the years we had some adventurous times. George was a truly good guy with a heart of gold and I know he will be missed by many.
