

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 3, 1944, to parents Frank & Josephine Savarese and welcomed into the family by his older brother Frank. At the age of nine, the family moved to Mastic Beach, New York where Jerry attended William Floyd Schools. It was there that he developed a talent for sports, playing basketball and baseball. He served as the star pitcher on the varsity baseball team, winning the Suffolk County baseball championship in 1962.
Upon graduation Jerry worked for several years in the construction business and then served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. The rest of his career was spent as a surveyor in the steel business in New York City.
Jerry had a passion for fishing and boating. He was a member of the Riverhead Yacht Club and spent many years on the water enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow members and friends.
He is survived by Mary, his wife of 55 years, and by his son, Robert, daughter in-law Jennifer, grandchildren Haylie, Brielle and Ashley, brother Frank, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation on Sunday, July 12th at 1:30pm to 4:30pm and 6:30pm to 8:30pm will be held at:
