Gerard Joseph Pyatte, 61, passed away on December 1, 2018 after battling leukemia. He was born on July 9, 1957 at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC, to Elizabeth and Devere Pyatte Jr. (both deceased). As most military families do, they traveled the US before settling permanently in Jacksonville, FL upon his fathers retirement from the US Navy. Gerard, like his father before him, worked on the sea most of his adult life for Crowley Maritime and Offshore Marine Contractors. He was well liked, respected, and will be missed by his shipmates. Gerard will be remembered as a fun-loving, genuine person with a generous heart. He was someone you could talk to without judgement and he would almost always have a piece of advice along with a funny personal story to go with it!
Gerard was loved and will be truly missed by his family – daughter Ashley Banks (Dustin Banks), GA, sister Mary Pyatte (Tom Dussault), FL, their son Nathan Dussault, MA, sister Breda Percy (deceased), her son James Percy/his children Sami-Jo and Brandon Percy, MI, her daughter Malia Percy/her son Braydon Raines, FL, sister Nancy Pyatte (Hardy Padgett), FL, her son Justin Schultz (Erin)/their children Abby and Ben Hall, FL, her son Joseph Schultz (Sarah)/their children Everleigh and Anson Schultz, FL. The family is so thankful for the outpouring of love and memories from all those who knew Gerard throughout his life! May we find comfort in knowing Gerard is at peace and, as believers, we will be reunited again!
A Memorial Celebration will be held on January 12, 2019, Saturday at 1:00 PM, arranged by Hardage-Giddens Beaches, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Gerard Pyatte to the Salvation Army, Northeast FL Area Command.
