Greg grew up in Moultrie, GA, and moved to Atlantic Beach, Florida as a teen. He attended Fletcher High School and Florida State College. He worked in the construction industry and was a supervisor for a roofing company for multiple years. He was recently working as a framer in Georgia.
Greg and his older brother Paul, tragically lost their father suddenly at the young ages of 10 and 13. The brothers often enjoyed duck hunting with their father in Georgia. Their father, Doug Moulton, was involved with many outside activities and sports with the boys.
The boys would fly up to visit Illinois, family, where their mother, Janet, grew up, to visit with their large extended family of 9 aunts and uncles and 26 cousins.
As a child his favorite TV show was He-man Master’s of the Universe and he loved to play with the action figures, especially Buzz-Off, the humanoid bee.
Greg’s longtime buddy, summed up their beach life as teenagers quite well. “We cruised around listening to music, played basketball and hung out at the beach, checking out the girls. We chilled hard and watched a lot of movies. Greg loved the “Rocky movies”.
Greg was a voracious reader and especially enjoyed, Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Tales and other historical novels. A family member remarked “every time I went to pick Greg up, he was sitting in his big brown Adirondack chair reading, often the bible.
Another friend added, every time I picked up Greg from Georgia, he carried his bible to into the passenger seat. Greg said, with his infectious smile, “I have this because you are driving”. His witty sense of humor was one of his best characteristics.
Greg enjoyed playing chess, poker, rummy and he was a master at them all. We would never dare play cards for money with Greg, that was for sure! He had a certain humble but assured “Got ya” look when he put-down his hand.
There was a debilitating medical condition that Greg dealt with since he was a young boy. There have been significant recent exacerbations of the condition that affected other parts of his body adversely. He has braved through many of the hardships in his lifetime due to this unfortunate circumstance. He had to face noteworthy burdens and endured them honorably. Confiding only to his closest family and friends with, minimal discouragement, was his strength.
There are innumerable memories and pictures of Greg at his happiest. When speaking of and being with his most precious and beautiful daughter, Leona, Greg breamed with joy. This is where we witnessed the happiest times and the true love, kindness and tenderness Greg showed Leona.
We love you, Greg and miss you. You are in our hearts and prayers. May you rest in peace.
A visitation for Gregory will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
