daughter. Harriet was born August 27, 1925 in Waterbury, CT and was the
youngest child of the late Cliff and Rose McPhee. She grew up in Waterbury and
graduated from Wilby High School.
She began a career in the banking industry prior to relocating to St. Petersburg, FL where she met Daryl Paul, a Coast Guard Officer. Shortly after marriage they were transferred to Honolulu, HI where many special memories were made during their time there. In 1958 they relocated to Jacksonville Beach, FL which became their home following Daryl’s retirement from the Coast Guard in 1960.
She resided in Jacksonville Beach until 2011 at which time she moved into the assisted living unit of Westminster Woods of Julington Creek. Harriet was an avid bridge player and played weekly with a group of close friends for nearly 50 years. She loved college football and rooting on the FSU Seminoles. Harriet also loved her family and especially loved spending time with her granddaughter Ansley with whom a special bond was shared. She always looked forward to their many adventures and outings.
Harriet maintained her sense of humor and quick wit up until the very end. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Daryl Paul, sister Lillian Stuart (Bill), brother Robert McPhee, nephew PaulStuart and daughter-in-law Phyllis Paul. She is survived by her daughter Marsha Savaria, son-in-law Art, her belovedgranddaughter Ansley (fiancé Jordan Bailey), all of St. Johns, FL and niece Ellen Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by stepsons Daryl Paul Jr of Friendswood TX , Ron Paul (Linda)of Tazewell, VA, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Westminster Woods for their many years of assistance and
support and most recently to the caring staff of Community Hospice.
Visitation will be held Monday evening December 17 from 6-8 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday December 18 at 11 am at the same location followed by interment at H. Warren Smith Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice and Palliative Care.
