Helen "Ginny" Strand

at the age of 89. Ginny was born to

Daniel Pierre Conway and Annie Louise Sharpe/Conway in

Palatka, Florida on December 1, 1928 and had six siblings.

Ginny was active in her youth and was a competitive roller skater. Ginny

married John A. Strand Jr. (a naval aviator) and began raising their

family moving coast to coast including Florida, California and

Virginia during John’s naval career. In 1974, when John retired as a Captain,

Ginny and John resettled to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as an

accountant for Crowley Maritime and then Betz PaperChem until her retirement.

Ginny was an avid bridge and Bunco player.

She enjoyed reading, theater, cooking and arts and crafts.

Ginny was a devoted mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.

Ginny is survived by her brother Charlie, daughter

Nancy Lee, sons John Alexander III, (Paula), Michael James, six

grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Ginny is preceded in

death by husband John, sisters Mildred and Carolyn, brothers

Edward, Daniel, John and grandson Steven.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 10:00AM

in the chapel at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville

Beach Florida. Ginny will join her husband John at Arlington

National Cemetery.
