

Irma Sumpter, 61 of Jacksonville, FL passed away Tuesday morning at her home where she preferred to be with her loved ones during her battle with cancer. Her courage and determination inspired all of those who were blessed to be a part of her journey.
Irma was born August 3, 1955 in El Paso, TX. She lived in Germany with her family as a child and then Augusta, GA where she met the love of her life, Russ Sumpter. They moved to Jacksonville in 1981 where Irma enjoyed a long successful career with Wells Fargo as an Internal Fraud Investigator. She was deeply respected within her community and enjoyed volunteering often with local charities.
Irma’s beautiful smile will be missed by many, especially her loving husband Russ whom she has been married to for 39 years, her mother Maria Smith of Augusta Georgia, son Joshua and granddaughter Liana, son Jason and wife Kelly, her brother Edward Jenkins, sister Ida Jenkins, her mother-in-law Ann Smith and husband Gary, her brothers-in-law and their families as well as her loving nephews, cousins, extended family members and many dear friends.
Irma was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a hard worker and was always willing to help others. She was an incredibly kind person and above everything else she loved spending time with her family at home. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was a constant source of love and support to those that were lucky enough to be close to her.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 15th at 2pm at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens in Jacksonville Beach, Florida
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Jacksonville or Brooks Rehabilitation Services
