Jack R. Horvath, a longtime resident of Atlantic Beach, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 with his wife and family present at their home on February 11, 2022. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie T. Horvath. They had three children and many grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his current wife, Margaret S. Horvath. They had four children and many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Jack served his country in the U.S. Navy for 30 years.
He was interested in his community and in helping others. Jack was instrumental in starting the Beaches Honor Guard, of which he served as the director for several years. Also, he was a member of the Fleet Reserve 290, American Legion Post 316, and VFW 3270. Jack also enjoyed reading, swimming, boxing, exercising and spending time with his family and fellow veterans.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, Feb. 17th from 5 pm until 7pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Feb 18th at 11am.
He will be laid to rest at Beaches Memorial Park with full Naval honors. Following the graveside services there will be a short memorial service at 2:30pm at the Fleet Reserve, 390 Mayport Rd., Atlantic Beach, FL.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeast Florida.
