James O. “Jim” Brewer, 65, passed away June 1, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born in Warner Robbins, GA, he was a longtime resident of Jacksonville Beach. In 1967, he entered the U.S. Navy and retired as 1st Class Petty Officer in 1989. While in the Navy, he served as a Boatswain’s Mate and travelled to many different countries fostering a love for travel that would continue beyond his naval career. Jim was an avid collector of many things including, baseball cards, coins and stamps. He wrote beautiful poetry and
stories that will remain his legacy for future generations.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Johnny Brewer and his father, Wallace “Bud” Brewer. The love Jim had for his family is immeasurable and he will be missed by his mother, Verna Mae Brewer; his wife of nearly 45 years, Charlotte Brewer; daughters, Christy Brewer, Michelle Brewer, and Amanda K. Mack (Shawn); brother, Jack Brewer (Dorothy); sister, Judy Mullis (Larry) ; grandchildren, McKenzie and Austin Brewer;
and many other extended family.
