It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Janet Mason George, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, dear aunt, and treasured friend. Janet departed this life with her beloved husband, Mark, in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Janet leaves behind a legacy of family, love, and strength that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Born in Verona, NY, Janet was the youngest sister of three older brothers. Janet had a career in elderly care and teaching Spanish. She lived abroad in Spain and Costa Rica and often discussed the amazing experiences that she had. Janet became the proud mother of Matthew, which became her full-time role as she led the school PTA, drove Matt to soccer, and continuously supported him in all that he did. Later, she welcomed Kinsey to the family and found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Tanner, River, and Archer, whose lives she enriched with her warmth, wisdom, and fun spirit.
A woman of intellect and thoughtful curiosity, Janet found daily delight in the New York Times crossword puzzle, a good book, and the simple pleasures of life. She loved taking her grandsons to the beach, relaxing in the peaceful mountains of North Carolina, and admiring the shimmering Path of Gold with family at Sylvia Lake.
Janet is survived by her son Matthew, daughter-in-law Kinsey, her grandsons Tanner, River, and Archer, and her two brothers, Robert George and David George, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
A joint celebration of Janet and Mark’s lives will be held on December 13th, at 1:00pm at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, where loved ones will gather to honor their memory, support the family, and share stories of the beautiful life they lived together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed towards Metropolitan Ministries or The Nature Conservancy as they were both important to Mark and Janet.
