

Jeanne Agnes Bracken, 94, of Atlantic Beach, FL formerly of Aquebogue and East Norwich, NY, died on November 24, 2021. She was born on March 20, 1927 to Agnes Stirrat and Louis Molino. She married Edward P. Bracken, Jr. on December 27, 1946. Jeanne attended Barnard College, and after nurturing her children into adulthood, completed her undergraduate degree at SUNY at Old Westbury. She continued her education at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and earned Master’s degrees in history and Library and Information Science. She retired as a children’s librarian at the Mastic-Moriches-Shirley Community Library. Jeanne dedicated her life to her family and volunteered for many service organizations. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Edward P. Bracken, Jr., her parents, brother Lou Molino, son, Thomas Bracken, son-in-law Eric Held and grandsons, Jude and Thomas. She is survived by her sister, Marie Gambineri (Roberto) children, Susan DePeter (Ed), Nancy Moothart (Joe), Edward Bracken (Paula), Michael Bracken (Christiane Head), Jane Bracken Held, and Katy Plagge (Chris). She is also survived by her daughter-in- law, Katherine Bracken and grandchildren, Sheilagh (Frank), Aileen (Troy), Mark, Eamon (Courtney), Michael (Valerie), Tara (Christian), Christopher, Kevin (Marie), Brian (Danielle), Emily, Sean, Matthew (Jen) and Carah. She was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren; Brady, William, Cailin, Abigail, Quinn, Thomas, Finn, Declan, David, Remy, Caitlin, Tristan, Tiernan, Francis, Oliver, Abby, and Audrey, numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Jeanne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being touched by her kind, caring light. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, learning, generosity and service to others. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Fleet Landing Derfer Healthcare Pavilion for their professional care and friendship for the last five years.
A viewing will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Rd. Atlantic Beach, FL 32233, Thursday, Dec 2nd, from 11:30 am-1:00 pm followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 with Father Rafael LaVilla presiding. Jeanne will be buried with her husband Edward in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
