I’m so grateful that I had a chance to meet Mrs. Bracken. She was a delight to spend time with, as Mrs. Bracken was willing to share her vast amount of knowledge and experience. I met and spent time with many of her adoring Family, and they all Loved her so much.
May Mrs. Bracken Rest in Peace with her beloved husband Edmund.

Perhaps the most important role of a mother is in shaping our values. A mother who exemplifies living those values is a gift. One who leaves a legacy of those values through her children and grandchildren is a a saint. 

My gratitude to Jeanne Agnes Bracken for her legacy of love, compassion, learning, generosity and service to others. 

May her example continue to inspire the Bracken family and friends.  May her spirit live on through everything you do. May you find strength to bear her loss in this legacy of values she has left for you.

Dear Ed, Paula and Family,

So sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your mother when I was just a little boy next door who played with the Bracken kids on the circle behind our East Norwich home! Your mother was always so kind and caring and able to stand up to the demands placed on her boys by big Ed! Wow! They were both forces in there own right! My mother died 6 years ago at the age of 92, same as my father, who died three years earlier. The passing of a generation!

Dear Second Family,

I can easily flash back to many, many times seated at your diner table to the right of Big Ed, while Jeannie B whipped up her ratatouille or some other delectable. I can recall riding home from a Bracken vacation in the station wagon with no seat belts-just flying along.  I remember dozens of sleep overs and a hand full of times that we snuck out for some night adventure. I think back to tip toeing up the attic stairs heading to the widows walk just to 'hang'.
I can see us lounging on Ed and Jeanne's bed making prank calls.  I remember playing chop sticks and jingle bells on the organ in the living room. I remember playing them over and over and over again.
Through all our shenanigans, Jeannie B keeper her calm, turned the other cheek and never belittled us.
I will feel her love forever.

Jeanne was my colleague at The Feminist Press in Old Westbury, NY from 1975 to 1979.  We worked together very closely on several projects studying children's books, and we became dear friends through that experience.  It was a friendship that remained until the end of her life and included both our husbands (both named Ed).
We had several opportunities to visit Jeanne after she moved to Atlantic Beach.  She shared so much wisdom with me, and I admired her stamina, her political opinions, and of course, her devotion to her children and their families.  I will hold her close to my heart always.  She was a very special person.

Dear Bracken Family, my heart goes out to you all as you mourn  the  passing of your Mom.  Praying God’s peace reign though all the details and mostly in your hearts as you put her to rest. Blessings!

The world is minus one loving, non-judgmental human being- caring. thoughtful, kind and calm. When our children were younger it was Aunt Jeanne who nurtured their love of writing, for a time they lived close by (Pepperidge Lake) - they say it takes a Village- we say it takes a loving family- and we have been blessed to be a part of a wonderful clan! Aunt Jeanne- love you- enjoy heaven with all of those who have passed over.  We are sure there are some great conversations going on! Love - Pam, Keith & family. 

To the Bracken Family,

May your special Mother and Friend to many  “Rest In Peace”. One would have to spend some time with Mrs. Bracken to really appreciate the beautiful and knowledgeable  person she is.

She was always able to enjoy a good conversation with a person or group of people, and she would  shed light on the subject being discussed, especially if some point of history was involved.

Mrs. Jeanne Bracken made this a better  world to live in and will be missed by many.
