

Joseph Maichle, 75, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away February 26, 2024. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 5, 1948 and received his diploma from Pierre S. DuPont High School. Joe was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Alter being honorably discharged from the military, he continued to protect and serve as a member of the New Castle County Police Department (NCCPD), a position he held for 27 years (25 years as an officer) before his retirement. Upon retirement, Joe worked at Delaware Park Casino as head of security, Maichle’s Heating & Air, was VP of Eagle Limousine, and Black Tie Limousine. Joe was currently serving as Commander of American Legion Post 129, a position he has held for the past seven years. Joe had a passion for bowling, camping, softball, fishing, the Blue Knights, and the American Legion Riders.
He married Kathy Maichle on November 8, 1980. In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his children, Tricia, Dawn, and Nicole; grandchildren, Zoe, Trevor, Kylie, Adrianna, Victoria, and Baylee; great-grandson, Strider; brothers, Ronald, Kenny, Bill, John and Bruce; and his mother, Katherine Maichle.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 523 Pablo Avenue, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Lannie Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32218.
