Joseph James Marasco

Joseph James Marasco (Jim) went home to be with his Lord and Savior peacefully at home on January 21, 2024. Jim was born on December 11, 1943 in Norfolk, Virginia to Victor and Ann Marasco. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Joanne Satterthwaite (Jack). Jim is survived by his loving wife Nonie of 54 years and two sons Kevin (Liana) of Ponte Vedra and Chris of Jacksonville, Florida. He was known as Papa to Kaden and Lucas who are his precious grandsons.

Jim and Nonie moved to Neptune Beach in 1976 where he became the men's merchandise manager for Furchgott's Department Stores. He later went to work for Manhattan Accessories as a salesman. In 1988, he wanted to spend more time at home so he started his own landscape business, Four Seasons Landscape Maintenance, which he oversaw until his retirement.

Jim swam at East Carolina University and maintained a special friendship with his teammates through the years. The swimmers from the early 60s still met annually to reminisce. After retirement, Jim and Nonie spent several weeks a year on the shores of the Pamlico River in North Carolina where they made wonderful memories these past 10 years.

Jim was an active member of Neptune Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served as a deacon, teacher and in leadership. He was also a member of the Gideons. Jim loved passing out Gideon Bibles for the church's Food Share ministry.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Neptune Baptist Church, Neptune Beach, Florida with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Neptune Baptist Church or the Gideons International at sendtheword.org
