Julia V. Russell

Julia Vaden Kendall Russell, 91, of Atlantic Beach, FL passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 4, 2010. Born July 31, 1919 in Florence, SC to Julia Sophronia Vaden Garris Kendall & Julius Caesar Kendall. She married Ernest Leon Russell on April 9, 1942. She was a graduate of Winthrop College in Rockhill, SC. Her life centered around God, family and friends, once those were in order she gardened, sewed and golfed. She was passionate about each. Julia was a member of Neptune Baptist Church, Selva Marina, CC, DAR & UDC. She is survived by one sister- Hannah Pauline Kendall Barringer; five children- Julia Vaden Russell, Richmond, VA, Ernest Leon (Rocky) Russell, Jr. married to Diane Long, Atlantic Beach, FL, Ronald Saunders Russell married to Carol Ann Grissom, Jacksonville, FL, Carl Eugene Russell married to Carolyn Griffith, Gravelswitch, KY, Mayme Hannah Russell Bois married to Michael Bois, Frederick, MD; nine grandchildren- Jason William Russell, Christopher Leon Russell, Rebecca Ann Russell, Julia Catherine (Katie) Russell, Kelly Lynn Russell, Alexander William Russell, Harrison Leon Russell, Karen Marisa Bois and Thomas Mickael Bois; one great-grandchild- Kendall Meyson Russell-Cleaves and many nieces and nephews. Julia was preceded in death by her spouse of 56 years, Ernest Leon Russell (Feb. 21, 1998); her brother, John Alexander Kendall (Jan. 30, 1996); and her sisters, Eugenia Mae Kendall Moore (June 1, 1996) and Nancy Carolyn Kendall Wimmer (June 8, 2009). Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 11am at Neptune Baptist Church. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall. Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home.
