Katie was born on August 12, 1951, and grew up in Jacksonville Beach. She ventured further a few times over the years but could never stay away from home for long. She graduated from Fletcher High School in 1969. Her fondest memories of that time were of
the beach, boardwalk and dancing at the bandshell.
She did administrative work for many years, but her proudest achievement was serving as a Jacksonville Beach Police Department Patrol Oicer, Middle School Resource Officer and
Detective where she was instrumental in solving cold cases and upheld their statement of values: Compassion, Dependability, High Moral Character, Initiative, Integrity, Professionalism and Self-Improvement. She retired in 2006.
Katie enjoyed photography, shopping and music. She loved cats and the ocean. She had a great sense of humor and could always make us laugh.
She is predeceased by her parents, Harry and Leona Kingston and brothers John and Nels. She leaves behind sisters, Donna
Guzman (Jay) and Amy Brogdon (Bill), ten nieces and nephews, a great niece and two great nephews.
