Kenneth Lawrence Henley, 76, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Ken was born in Montgomery, Alabama and raised in Brooklyn, New York and Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Englewood High School and went on to play baseball at Stetson University, later receiving his B.A. in Communications from the University of Florida. He worked for State Farm Insurance Company for 56 years, ending his career as a State Farm Agent. He was a devoted family man and lifelong fan of the Florida Gators, New York Yankees and Jacksonville Jaguars. He was known by many as “Coach” as he spent many years involved in the youth baseball programs in Atlantic and Jacksonville Beach.
Ken was predeceased by his father, Weldon Henley, and mother, Evelyn Henley. He is survived by Diane Henley, his son Kenny Henley (Vallis) and daughter, Dorothy Dixon (Tyler). He is survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild: Luke Guthrie, Hannah Guthrie, Kendall Henley, Clayton Guthrie, Logan Henley, Reese Henley and Mila Guthrie. He is also survived by his siblings: Paul Ossenbruggen, Bruce Henley (Sharon) and Joanne Lastavich.
A visitation for Ken will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. He will be interred at H. Warren Smith Cemetery.
