Linda Dean Terrell, age 59, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023. Linda was born in Jacksonville and graduated from Fletcher High School in 1981. She was married for 32 years to Donald Terrell.
Linda wrote, “when you marry your spouse, you marry their family,” and to that end, her favorite line about the in-laws was “snap out of it” from the movie, Moonstruck – but all in fun, as Linda loved them dearly (especially Uncle Curly, aka her partner in crime). In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father Jack Dean (Jan); mother DeLon Carter; brother Michael Dean (Karen); sister-in-law Sarina Boeneke (Chip); and step sisters and brothers – Ted Carter, Jr. (Beth); Joy Chalker (Donald); David Wilt (Josie); and Michelle Corey. In her own words, Linda “became a pretty good aunt and confidante” [who is] “a lot cooler than their doting parents.” Her numerous nieces and nephews would agree – Kerri Davis (Lee); Jason Ramirez (Jennah); John Carter; Hannah and Reghan Chalker; Chase and Gage Boeneke; Vincent Wilt; Sam and Emma Corey. A special mention goes to her late step-father, Ted Carter, Sr. whom she fondly remembered as a “gentle giant who is missed greatly.”
Linda had many talents and passions – a bookkeeper by trade, and an animal lover by heart. There have always been cats and dogs, fish and other small animals in her home. The three surviving black cats, Lancelot, Elvira, and Wednesday, and their schipperke sister, Manta, also mourn her passing. Unknown to her family, Linda was a talented artist whose pencil drawings of Florida fauna and the antiques she and Donald collected, were found recently in her private sketchbook.
Linda had many friends, her favorites being “the just plain weird ones.” Her motto was “be a good friend and you will get good friends.”
As we remember Linda, some lines from Fleetwood Mac (her favorite band) come to mind:
Now you are here today / But easily you might just go away / I wish you all the love in the world / And I love you like never before.
The family will remember Linda at a celebration of life to be announced at a later date.
