

Marilyn Huether Probst, loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend, was reunited with her creator on July 30, 2024. She passed peacefully surrounded by her children. Marilyn is survived by her 6 children, Jean, Kathleen, Suzanne, Walter, Dianne and Joyce. Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Marilyn was born on November 23, 1934 in Rochester, NY. She grew up during the Depression and World War II in the area of the city known as “Dutchtown”, comprised mostly of German immigrants. She married Walter W. Probst in 1953 and shared a life together for almost 60 years.
Marilyn and Walter spent 11 years in Rochester NY before moving to Arden, NC in 1964. While a homemaker raising 6 children, Marilyn worked part-time as a Nurse Aide at Deerfield Nursing Home. Marilyn later worked for Westinghouse assembling electrical transformer parts. She was promoted to Supervisor, and later was instrumental in the development and implementation of the product quality control program.
In 1996, Marilyn and Walter moved to Lake Norman, NC to enjoy lake living. For several years they enjoyed visiting family and friends in Florida and decided to join them by moving to Leesburg, FL in 2000. After 8 years in Leesburg, they made their final move to Jacksonville, FL where Marilyn resided until her passing.
Marilyn was active in the Brookdale Sr Living community, enjoyed socializing with friends, and volunteering for a number of activities there. Marilyn was most widely known for her weekly Eucharistic Ministry; ensuring residents at Brookdale and several other Sr living communities received holy communion and prayer service.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 9800 Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256. Visitation, with the family, at 10:30a. Followed by a private burial at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
