She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Journalism, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. It was here she met Paul, her husband of over 40 years. Upon graduation they moved to Raleigh, N.C. where Margie worked as a feature writer for the Raleigh News & Observer.
Several years later, Margie and Paul moved to Jacksonville Beach, where their love of the beach lifestyle first began. Margie received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University and worked at Florida Community College at Jacksonville as the Director of the Foundation. In 1993, Margie joined the St. Johns County School District Administrative Staff where she became Director of Community Relations.

Among her favorite joys in life were traveling with her family, running on Atlantic Beach, scalloping in Crystal River, and doting on her grandson, Jack Bradley.
