age 90, on March 24, 2023.
She was born January 14, 1933 in Summit, Mississippi to George William Huffman and Grace Dunn Huffman. In her younger years she spent many blissful days with loving parents and brothers, riding horses, going to church and camp meetings at Felder’s Campground. Throughout her years she still carried many happy Mississippi memories. Lou graduated from McComb High School in 1951 and later attended business college in Jackson, MS.
In May, 1953 she married Joe Houston Andrew and moved to Jacksonville Beach, FL where they raised their family. They were married for 65 years. Lou worked for 20 years as a legal secretary at Stockton, Whatley, Davin & Co., a large state-wide real estate development company headquartered in Jacksonville.
Her most special memories include: being married to one man for so many years, the two sharing their leisure time square and round dancing, time spent living at the lake house in Melrose, FL, being able to travel in their RV all over the U.S. (where national parks were a favorite destination), Canada and Alaska including as far away as Newfoundland and Labrador. Throughout all their travels, North Carolina was the most special place except, of course, being at home.
Mary Louise was a passionate reader. She enjoyed nothing more than a good book and took great pleasure in sharing bags of books with friends and relatives.
Another of her favorite pastimes were her pictures and photo albums. She chronicled important occasions through her photos and happily shared them. A valued remembrance to loved ones were photo albums of her most precious memories to be enjoyed for years to come.
Mary Louise was a true Southern lady in the best sense of the word who cherished her family and most especially all gatherings spent together. Her love and pride were undeniable. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Joe H. Andrew, who was her steadfast companion and with whom she was blessed to enjoy so many adventures. Mary Louise was also predeceased by brother John Buford Huffman, sisters-in-laws: June Huffman, Asia Carolyn Andrew Cooper and Sybil Andrew Althoff and brother-in-laws: Martin Cooper and Joe Carpentieri.
