

Mary Shirley Struthers Dorfler passed away July 14, 2015 following a brief battle with cancer. Born 4/21/21 to Thomas and Catherine Struthers in Grayslake, Illinois, she met and married the love of her life Carl Dorfler in 1946 and celebrated 50 years together before she lost him. Her life became complete with the arrival of daughter Carol in 1955.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Carol, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews, and her family of critters. Her favorite niece Mary Struthers Dougherty (and husband Patrick) along with their daughter Meg Dougherty Kramarz (her favorite grand-niece), arrived to share her final days. She was also deeply loved by her adopted family Maureen and Gary Hayes, their children, her dear friends Donna Mylod, Nita Motogawa, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Shirley was a loyal volunteer at Baptist Medical Center Beaches, which she loved dearly. She so enjoyed all the patients and her extended family of volunteers.
Shirley had friends all over the world and will be missed by all. Those awaiting her arrival in heaven include her parents, husband and her two brothers, Tom (Buddy) and Herb Struthers.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at St Paul’s Catholic Church 428 2nd Ave. N, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. A celebration of life will follow in the fellowship hall. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
