I was saddened to see that Mr. Roland has passed away. The same age as my mother, also a Mayport resident, they attended school together. My father ran Roland owned shrimpers as a young man(Matt's father ran the operation back then). Matt Roland helped out struggling commercial fishermen for decades. He was a great man and will be will be greatly missed. My condolences go to the Roland family. Martin Cooper

Mat did so much for Mayport Village and its residents. It was wonderful growing up at Monty's Marina next door to Mat Roland seafood. I will always remember Mat's raspy voice and constant smile. Mike Weaver
