Michael John Hayman, 64, of Neptune Beach, passed away September 6, 2020. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on February 11, 1956. Mike graduated from Ed White High School and received his Associates Degree from FSCJ. He married to Debra Hayman (Debbie) March 26, 2005. Mike worked as a carpenter for the City of Jacksonville Public Buildings Dept. He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher. Mike had a passion for playing guitar, golf, hiking, camping, biking, woodworking, reading and history. In addition to his wife, Debbie, he is survived by his step-children, Kersten Schroeder, Sharon Talton and Sheree Lacy Alden; step-grandchildren, Mitchel Lacy, Serenity Lacy, Abigayle Talton, Braelyn Schroeder, Michael Schroeder, Ayla Schroeder, and Isabella Alden; siblings, Rick Hayman and Pamela Abdullah (Paul); uncle, Jim Mangels, nieces, Kelly Jackson (Ray) and Kristen Abdullah; nephews, Paul Abdullah (Marie) and Bryce Abdullah. Mike was a very kind and caring man. He loved his family very much. Mike found his wife Debbie, and married for the only time at the age of 49. He was an instant stepfather and step grandfather. When asked what he wanted the grandchildren to call him, he said “Mike”. He was very close with his brother, Rick and his sister, Pam. Mike loved his woodworking. He was often in his workshop making a desk for one grandchild or a dollhouse for another. He took great care with each piece of furniture to make it a lasting keepsake. One of his biggest accomplishments with his carpentry skills was a building a house from the ground up in the woods in South Georgia. His 1928 Avondale home is another major accomplishment He refurbished it from the floor beams to the roof. He milled the lap siding to match the 1928 style not available nowadays. Another goal he accomplished was becoming a Licensed Building Contractor to use when he retired. Mike had many hobbies. He would always tell people he was going to “give them a lesson” when he went to play a round of golf. He spent a lot of time on the driving range. He and Debbie often went on golfing vacations. They even played a round in Hawaii. Other hobbies were biking, hiking, camping and playing his guitar. He loved the 70’s music. Some of his favorite artists were Eric Clapton, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, and Cat Stevens. Most evenings he would sit around and serenade Debbie after work. Sometimes he and his brother Rick would pack up, head to the Georgia cabin and play golf, and later sit around telling tales of their game and playing their guitars around the campfire. The brothers got together for sister Pam’s birthday one year and bought her a guitar. Sometimes all three would sit, pick and grin! The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, Sept. 10th from 6-8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, FL. The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 11th at 11 am at Community Presbyterian Church, 150 Sherry Drive Atlantic Beach, FL. The processional will immediately follow to Evergreen Cemetery,
