Reginald Armstrong "Rex" Norris

Reginald “Rex” Armstrong, Jr., 92, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Oct. 28, 2019. He was born in Jacksonville, FL on May 4, 1927 and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Massey Business College. He married his wife, Nancy on Dec. 26, 1987.

Rex had a career in the motion picture industry for 70 years retiring at age 90. He had his own business, Norris Booking Service. In 2013, he was honored to be inducted into the Motion Picture Hall of Fame.

He had a passion for sailing, traveling, reading and politics and will be remembered as a fine southern gentleman. He was preceded in death by his sons, Rick and Troy and brother, Hassel and is survived by his wife, Nancy F. Norris; daughter-in-law, Vicki; step-daughters, Dana Newsome (Terry), Mary Alice Tharp (David); grandchildren, Ashley Rose (Alex), Kyle Newsome (Bigi Luginbuhl), Zachary Newsome (Katie), Nicole Newsome, Emily Newsome Sims (Avery) and Michael Newsome; great-grandchildren, Aiden Rose and Noah Rose; sisters, Lillian Bannon and Mae Olson; many nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

A service to celebrate the life of Rex Norris will be held 11:00 am, Nov. 16, 2019, at Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church, 7860 Southside Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32256. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran Church or Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville.
