Richard Welker

1928 – 2014

Mr. Richard Welker went to be with the Lord at age 86 on December 31, 2014. He was born of the late John Edward Welker and Mary Hill on July 17, 1928 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He is survived by his daughters: Shan Vance of Danville, Ohio and Nancy Weatter of Wasilla, Alaska and numerous friends within Jacksonville Beach and throughout Duval County. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from August 1948 until May 1952 when he received an Honorable Discharge. He went to work with the U.S. Government as a Civil Service Electrician, serving on various ships and land based government facilities, retiring in 1977.

His celebration of life will be held Tuesday January 6, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens (904)249-2374 located 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, Florida 32250. His wishes are to be cremated and his remains to reside in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Florida Community Hospice or the Florida Baptist Children’s Home, Jacksonville, Florida.
