He earned his law degree at Stetson University and was admitted to the Florida Bar Association in 1966. He was a Certified Circuit Mediator in 1991. Some of his other activities included, United States Coast Guard, licensed Captain; lecturer at Continuing Legal Education seminars; and an instructor for Legal Assistants at FCCJ and a business law instructor at Jacksonville University. Roland, one of a very unique childhood, was raised on an island in the intercoastal waterway, was a well-known attorney in Jacksonville, a graduate of Stetson College and Law School and a proud member of Sigma Nu fraternity. A veteran Army Officer and probably most notable besides his legal work, an avid sportsman in the fields of fishing, both offshore and inshore, as well as an accomplished hunter. Roland, a father, husband and friend was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his father, Roland E. Williams, Sr and his mother, Florence Shaw Williams. He is survived by his wife, Miriam Fiallo Williams; his daughters, Tammy Doerer, Alaine Ducharme, Terry Williams and Dawn Leitz, and step daughter, Aubree Rickerson; son in laws: Colonel Robert C. Doerer, Richard Ducharme, Jr., Scott Leitz, and Josh Rickerson. He is also survived by his grandsons: Camden Doerer, Jake Ducharme and Thomas Ducharme; and granddaughters: Casey Doerer, Jordan Ducharme, Emma Mendez, and Peyton Leitz.
The service will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 1:00pm at Neptune Baptist Church, 407 Third Street in Neptune Beach with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in his name.
