Rose E Sambito passed away on March 16, 2013. She lived an amazing life filled with love and laughter. She was one of 15 children born and raised in Fitchburg, MA that grew up during the Great Depression. She had no formal schooling as she was chosen to help take care of her family and younger siblings.
She had many talents that started with cooking and moved on to most anything she touched. Her hands made furniture and clothing and during WWII she was part of the feminine workforce that paved the way for many womens’ independence. But her most proud moment was when she was called to help create children’s clothes for Disney’s “It’s a Small World After All.” That led her to help with Mickey Mouse’s Tuxedo for his first walk down Main Street at the opening of DisneyLand, California. Although her name may not be found in the credits, she went on to do more amazing things with her family.
Her greatest love was her son, ‘Sammy;’ she was able to give everything of herself to let her family know how loved and how important and they are. Grammy Rose was a joy to be around, she was the life of the party and if you listen you can still hear her laughing. Rose was 97 years old and left in peace with her family by her side. She is survived by her son, Sam; her grandchildren, Sandy, Chad, Krystle, Katie and Kendall; her three great grandkids, Presley, Peyton and Colton; and three siblings, Dominick, Janet and Gloria.
We will laugh, love and celebrate her life on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Beaches Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250, from 5:00-8:00pm, with a memorial service beginning at 7:00pm.
