

Roy E. Baer Jr., 91, went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2012. Roy was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 1, 1921 to Roy E. Baer and Agnes Riedmiller Baer. Roy served in the US Army in World War II and met his wife, Marge while stationed in Nassau, Bahamas. They married and moved to Jacksonville in 1946. Roy worked in the screen printing business with Peeples Screen Printers and was one of the owners of Screen Process Printers, retiring in 1986.
Roy coached Little League Baseball for many years. He was an avid Florida Gators fan, loved fishing, playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital for over 25 years, where he brightened the spirits of patients and his coworkers.
Roy was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was involved in all facets of volunteering and serving the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. For the past 10 years, Roy has been a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was actively involved with the Men’s Club. Roy was an exemplary Christian role model for his family.
Roy is predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Pat Doyle and Juanita Enderlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marge; his sons, Charles “Yogi” (Donnell) and Doug (Laura); his grandchildren, Ken (Bridget), Mike, Douglas Jr., Havey and Chris; great-grandsons Chase and Logan; and his sister, Dorothy Pumphrey (Little Rock, Arkansas)
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, December 20 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach, during which time a rosary service will be conducted. A memorial mass will be held 1pm Friday, December 21 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32256 with Rev. Timothy J. Cusick presiding.
