

Roy L. Mullins, Jr., 78, passed away March 23, 2010 in Statesboro, GA. Roy was born March 21, 1932 in Savannah, GA. Roy attended Benedictine Military School and graduated from Savannah High School where he met his wife, Julienne. They were married September 3, 1955 in Savannah and moved to Jacksonville in 1957. He also attended the University of Georgia, where he was member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Roy was a lifelong supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and a long-time Gator Booster. Roy and Julie were known for their annual party in celebration of the Georgia-Florida Game. Roy Mullins was a member of the construction industry in Jacksonville for over 40 years. He was Owner and President of Commercial Roof Decks of Jacksonville, Inc. and Beacon Contracting Group, Inc. when he retired in 2004. His company was named to the Fastest Growing Business List in Jacksonville and to the INC Magazine Top 100 Contractors. While running a successful business, Roy always had time for his six children and took over as surrogate father to his granddaughters after their father passed away in 1999. Roy enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, the beach and traveling with his wife, family and friends all over the county and Europe. He was a member of Hidden Hills Golf and Country Club and The River Club. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julienne Dillon Mullins, his children, Joy Bellamy of Jacksonville, FL, Michael Mullins (Beth) of Statesboro, GA, Nancy Mullins of Jacksonville, FL, Sean Mullins of Statesboro, GA, R.L. “Sonny” Mullins, III of Jacksonville, FL, Mary Glenn Jernigan (Donald) of Statesboro, GA and Jonni (Mark) Wilkinson of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mary Allyn Bellamy, Christopher Mullins, Jr., Betsy Bellamy, Cody Lee Jernigan, Michael Lucas Jernigan, Jamie L. Hayward (Jason), Rush Wells, Bambi Dickinson (Dale), James Fraley and Katherine Fraley, great-grandchildren, Chase James Hayward and Brian Joseph Dickinson, brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Harriett Dillon of Savannah, GA and many cousins, family and friends. He is predeceased by his father, Roy L. Mullins, Sr., his mother, Evelyn Crawford Mullins, his step-mother Kathryn M. Mullins, son-in-law R. Alan Bellamy and daughter-in-law, Janet K. Mullins. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
