It is with great sadness I hear of Scott's passing.  I  knew Scott since his Piper Glen Days.  I had the pleasure of playing golf with Scott numerous times.  My sympathies go out to Shannon and Carson; He loved you both more then anything on earth and that can never be taken away.

I was fortunate to know Scott through Junior Golf at Piney Point GC (Norwood, NC).  A fierce competitor, I remember, fondly, our rounds together on the course.

We know God has a plan although we just don't understand....we still lean on Him. And although we don't have a way to stop the pain and hurt that no one should ever have to go through (I can't even begin to understand this one friend-a-rooni), we are so faithful in the truth that Scott's, yours and Carson's lives will glorify God in the utmost of ways. Scott always took the time to hug me and shake hands with Randy each and everytime we saw each other. He cared so much about how we were doing. He was generous. He was sincere. He was real. He was LOVE. He LOVED you and he KNOWS how much you love him. Your actions, your commitment to him and Carson, and the joy you showed when you were together was evidence of that. For the 3 years we have met during our small group, we've shared so many memories. We've cried together for each others families & friend's. Scott always had a prayer request for someone in his circle of influence that he considered a "divine encounter by God"...he cared so much about helping all those around him. His family, customer's and other acquaintances. He just yearned for their Salvation. Shannon, we will be continuing his prayers (and your's) for you and your lil' Bear. I hurt so bad for you to have to suffer this way. It doesn;t seem fair. And for Carson to have this tragedy to face in his future. I think about when he learns to drive and the fear you'll face even then, I think about all the fears and insecurities the non- God fears and insecurities you might face and I just pray for Jesus to take them all away! I feel like family with you, Carson and Scott and all of our small groupies and I pray for us to carry you and Carson through the toughest times. Your faith was once quoted by our friend as "remarkable!!!" Now I understand ONE of the purposes God had for gifting you in that way...you have a giant size faith to deal with this giant sized tragedy. YOU WILL MAKE IT. You are a truly AMAZING believer, disciple, lady, friend, sister, daughter, Mommy. I can't thank God enough for our connection here in crumby ol' Jacksonville;-) I praise God for you and I can't wait to see what you will do with all of this when the time is right ...whatever it is, it will be glorifying our Savior in Heaven. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Scott. He was a super nice person. I worked with Scott at The Club at Long view in Weddington NC. I have photos of him practicing early every morning preparing for his round of golf with Jack Nicolas on our opening day...He was so excited about that day. I have a scorecard that Jack and Scott both signed in remembrance of that day. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to know Scott Railing....

I have known Shannon's family for 18 yrs now. The McCorkles have always shared a special place in my heart and are a second family to me. In 2002, I had the pleasure of sharing a very memorable day with Shannon and Scott. I photographed the wedding of two people who showed an amazing amount of love for each other and for God. It was a true blessing to share this special day with them. I am so sad to see such a wonderful father, son, husband, and friend lose his life. It is a very sad time but I know God will take care of Shannon and Carson. They are incredible people who are loved beyond words. Praying for you Shannon. I love you.

Scott and I were close friends back in the late 80's. We played together on the golf team at South Stanly. I was pretty new to the game and he helped me improve tremendously.  I'll never forget when he and I won the 3rd flight of the Member-Member tournament at Piney Point back in 1989 with a best-ball 69. Scott was fearless on the course and would always pull through under pressure.
