Born in Miami, September 20, 1935, to Essie Mae and Luman Russell and raised in Pensacola, she leaves behind her son, Russel ‘Rusty” Goodman (Robin), her precious granddaughters Carson and Bailey, her best friend, “closer than a sister”, Clara Jo Miron of Jacksonville, lifelong friend James Leath of Pensacola, friend Sharon Clark, and her sister Glenda Broussard of Clarks, LA, among countless others whose lives she had touched thru the Church of Christ and entertaining. Family and friends were Shirley’s passion and joy and she lived life to the fullest as she was an eternal optimist. Anyone that knew Shirley misses her greatly since her presence and playfulness lit up the room.
As were her wishes a private Memorial and Celebration of the life of this sweet southern lady will take place in Jacksonville then in Pensacola on the shores of her beloved Gulf of Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt Dora Children’s Home, 301 W 13th Ave, Mt Dora, FL 32757.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32250.
