Thomas Richard Brice

Tom was born in New York City on August 25, 1941. At the age of five, he moved with his family to Tampa, Florida, where he spent his formative years. He attended Hillsborough High School and later was a scholarship student at the University of Tampa. Athletics played an important role throughout his school years. He was a

member of the varsity baseball and football teams at Hillsborough High School and continued playing varsity baseball throughout his college years. Following college, Tom enlisted in the United States

Navy. He served as a pilot and rose to the rank of lieutenant. While serving, he also earned a masters degree in business administration. After completing his military service, he began a long career with IBM, where he worked for 30 years and ultimately retired as a senior location manager. He later worked for a period of time as a commercial real estate agent with Caldwell Banker Commercial in Clearwater, Florida.

Tom’s love of sports remained a constant throughout his life. During his years at Cypress Village he was an active participant in golf croquet and bocci. He coached several Little League teams and remained an enthusiastic sports fan until the very end. His passion for athletics, his commitment to his family, and his friendly and generous nature were important parts of the life he shared with

those around him.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Julie; his son, Thomas Brice Jr., and his wife, Paula; and his three grandchildren, Tommy, Audrey and Kate. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Neuman. He was predeceased by his son, Jason; his parents, Alexander and Elizabeth Brice, and his brother, Alan Brice. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cypress Village for their kindness, compassion, and support throughout Tom’s illness.

The family invites friends to a service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on September 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Rd. A reception will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Egret Hall at Cypress Village located at 4600 Middleton Park Circle E., which family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of Tom.
